Hi,

Here you go, some photos to start with and four videos will follow from Saturday night. The first one is a bit special I think.

Paddy Goodwin and the Holy Ghosts played the latest in a series of gigs in Odd Mollies in Drogheda on 28th April 2018. Paddy was joined by Shane Power on drums and Ted McCarthy on bass. Guest musicians this week were Johnny Fean, Jim Lockhart, Barry Devlin, Anthony Thistlethwaite & Mick McCarney.

Hi,

Many of you are aware of the regular (usually monthly) free gigs that Paddy Goodwin & The Holy Ghosts have been putting on in Odd Mollies in Drogheda. Jim & Barry are regular members of the Holy Ghosts for many of these gigs and I have been lucky enough to get to quite a few of them.

Well on Saturday 28th April (this weekend) we will have Johnny, Jim and Barry all playing so there is a reasonable chance of a Horslips number or two being played.

I plan to be there. They usually start around 10.00 and go on until about 1.00.

Hi,

Happy Easter to all here. I was also up a a similar time this morning bringing my son to the airport at 4.15 for a 6.15 flight. I did make it back to bed when I got home though. Great result for Munster yesterday Digger, a very special bit of magic from Andrew Conway to win it.

Hi,

I was channel hopping the other night when I came across the Nolan Show on BBC NI. Imagine my surprise when I spotted a couple of familiar faces in the audience. I was sure I spotted Taff55 there.

However said person then asked a very sensible and intelligent question on live television so it couldn't really have been him, could it. . . . . .

RoryVanR,
Most appropriate that your post above was the 25,000th on Fantasia. Still waiting for taff55 to hit 3,000.

Hi,

Also, we are all collectively just 4 posts short of a total of 25,000 posts across all three forums on Fantasia.

RoryVanR,

That photo of Warren Haynes reminded me that I had the pleasure of standing about five feet away from him when Govt Mule played the Academy in Dublin a few months ago. I went knowing nothing about him or them and absolutely loved it.

StefanF,

That picture of Horslips is taken outside the Odeon at the top of Harcourt St. in Dublin. A venue that has featured a four piece Horslips consisting of Jim, Barry, Johnny & Ray playing at Johnny's sister Corna's birthday party in Nov 2016.

That is great news SteelerCountry,

Looking forward to meeting you this time since I was at a family wedding in Donegal when you were over at the gig in Killarney.

Taff55,
I am really looking forward to this. I have booked a couple of hotel options for it already.
I hope we will get s bit of advanced notice as to when the tickets will be available. I can see this selling out quite quickly so would hate to find out the tickets were available after they have all gone.
Any idea when they will be going on sale and from where?

Fantasia,

Here you go with a link to the YouTube playlist for our #HorslipsVirtualGig2017 several hours ahead of those who are only on Facebook.

I hope some of you will be able to join in later on or if not, the link is going to stay on YouTube indefinitely so you can catch it before you go out tonight or after you come back.

StefanF,

Yes it went well. Plenty of Horslips tracks in the setlist last night. We got King of the Fairies, The Power & the Glory, Fantasia, Trouble, Sword of Light, a great version of Shaking All Over and finished up with Dearg Doom.
We also got The Berlin Wall (Zen Alligators B side) as well a a few Johnny's usual blues & rock & roll tracks.
They included Ramblin on my Mind, Statesboro Blues, Honky Tonk woman, Stone Free, Somebody Help Me & Further on Up the Road.

I am sure there were a couple of other that don't come to mind right now but it was a really enjoyable gig and Johnny was really enjoying it himself.

Digger,

I'll put the actual playlist link up here on Saturday afternoon, earlier than I will on FB, and that playlist is going to be available on Youtube into the future. So you might get to listen before you go to the match or after you come back.

I'll probably make the first track unlisted after a couple of weeks because it is probably something that shouldn't really be left available on Youtube. I just thought it would be an interesting one for people to get a little bit of an access all areas experience with this virtual gig.

StefanF & Taff55, let's just get this one out of the way first but not a bad idea to follow up afterwards on Facebook with a challenge to create another playlist for a gig next March. I'll leave that one for someone else to do.

Regards,
John
