Digger,

I'll put the actual playlist link up here on Saturday afternoon, earlier than I will on FB, and that playlist is going to be available on Youtube into the future. So you might get to listen before you go to the match or after you come back.

I'll probably make the first track unlisted after a couple of weeks because it is probably something that shouldn't really be left available on Youtube. I just thought it would be an interesting one for people to get a little bit of an access all areas experience with this virtual gig.

StefanF & Taff55, let's just get this one out of the way first but not a bad idea to follow up afterwards on Facebook with a challenge to create another playlist for a gig next March. I'll leave that one for someone else to do.

Regards,
John

Hi,

I just realised I got my US west coast time wrong, that will be 12:00, not 13:00.

Hi,

In the absence of any live full band Horslips gigs these days I am going to put on a virtual gig event to be held on Saturday 16th December 2017 as a Facebook event for Horslips fans to watch a Youtube playlist of a virtual Horslips gig together.

The time will be 20:00 GMT so 21:00 for Digger and 15:00 for anyone on the US or Canadian east coast or 13:00 on the west coast.

The actual playlist link will be shared here and on Facebook about an hour before the event starts. It is just over 80 minutes long.

The idea is that we all press play at the same time and watch together.

#HorslipsVirtualGig2017

All videos are live Horslips performances as videoed by me, usually from the front row, so they give a genuine audience perspective of the gig including all the background noise and chat that hopefully won't detract from the quality of the music coming from the stage.

As an exclusive for Fantasia I am going to let you all know the playlist in advance now in my next post on this thread.

I hope you will all be able to join in next Saturday.

Regards,

John

Sorry StefanF, I am having my own spell of bad memory now, I can't remember what they finished with. Just back in from Robert Plant and I had Tir na nOg last night so Johnny's gig was 3 gigs ago.

I do know that he sometimes plays Little Red Rooster but don't remember it from Friday.

Daragh, is you memory any better than mine?

Here is the one video I took last night. Please excuse the couple of expletives at the very end as I knocked over a glass of wine.

Great to meet you there Daragh. A great night is right.

Here are a few photos and I will have one video to share when I get a chance to post it.

Johnny Fean is back in the Dublin area on 14th December when the Johnny Fean Band play Gibneys in Malahide. That will be Johnny Fean & Stephen Travers with Martin McElroy on drums. I hope to be there.

Hi,

I finally managed to listen to Mike Brookfield's album in full twice on Saturday and then watched the video above last night. I am very impressed at the quality of both the music and the lyrics. I'll be listening to it a bit more in the future as it is so good.

Hi,

Just back in the door from the Dublin album launch in Whelans. Mike Brookfield is a serious blues guitarist, I was very impressed. I loved the material they played and got myself an album which I haven't had a chance to play yet.

Eamon, Barry & Jim were all at the gig tonight.

I'll put up a few photos at some stage over the next few days. I didn't take any videos so if you want to see him, get to a gig if you can. You won't be disappointed.

Hi,

Paddy Goodwin and the Holy Ghosts played the latest in a series of gigs in Odd Mollies in Drogheda on 1st July. Paddy was joined by james mackin on drums and Martin Shields on bass. Guest musicians this week were Jim Lockhart, Barry Devlin, Victor Mccullough and Roy Fulton.

Here is one of my videos from that night. I caught a couple of minutes of a gorgeous acoustic version of The Man Who Built America.

Unfortunately I ran out of camera battery before the end but even this couple of minutes is worth listening to.

John

Great to hear from you too RoryVanR,

Alex was sitting about two feet away from me at the gig and had a shoutout from Pat. We also got an extended King Of The Fairies from Pat mainly because Alex was there.

Keep letting us know where you are any time you have decent wifi.

Hi,

The extended Horslips family gathered in The Mespil Hotel and the Leeson Lounge in Dublin for HORSLIPS: THE SUMMIT on the 12th and 13th May 2017.

The weekend culminated in a gig with The Teraways (with our own front row centre), Risky Business and a Horslips combo which included Jim Lockhart, Johnny Fean & Barry Devlin accompanied by Paddy Goodwin and Myles Lally.

Those of us lucky enough to have been there had a great weekend, especially on Saturday night. Here are three videos from Saturday which are being posted here before Facebook and also a few photos which did get to Facebook first as that is where the link is from.

Hi,

Paddy Goodwin celebrated his birthday with a great gig in Odd Mollies in Drogheda on Saturday 22nd April 2017. With James Mackin on drums and Martin Shields on bass he was joined by many guest musicians. These included Jim Lockhart, Barry Devlin, Paul Callaghan, Paul Brady and many other friends of Paddy.

Here as a Fantasia exclusive for tonight (I won't be sharing these on FB until tomorrow night at the earliest) are two videos from the night featuring Locky Jim and Baz.

Yes, it would be nice to have the odd update as to the whereabouts of RoryVanR on his globetrotting travels.

I will be posting a couple of videos in the next couple of weeks of a couple of Horslips (Jim & Barry) playing at Paddy Goodwin's birthday gig in Drogheda a couple of weeks ago. I just haven't had time to do anything with them yet. They played The Power and the Glory and Locomotive Breath.

Here is what I put on FB last night, have to share it with you all as well.

I think St. Patrick's day is an appropriate day to remember the first ever live performance of this Horslips classic.

Horslips played a great set at the launch of Tall Tales, the Horslips Biography by Mark Cunningham at the Button Factory in Temple Bar in Dublin on Tuesday 29th October 2013.
Horslips are Barry Devlin, Jim Lockhart, Johnny Fean, Charles O'Connor and Eamon Carr. Playing drums tonight as usual instead of Eamon was Ray Fean.

This is The Snakes Farewell to the Emerald Isle from the album The Unfortunate Cup Of Tea.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone !!

John
