Hi,

The extended Horslips family gathered in The Mespil Hotel and the Leeson Lounge in Dublin for HORSLIPS: THE SUMMIT on the 12th and 13th May 2017.

The weekend culminated in a gig with The Teraways (with our own front row centre), Risky Business and a Horslips combo which included Jim Lockhart, Johnny Fean & Barry Devlin accompanied by Paddy Goodwin and Myles Lally.

Those of us lucky enough to have been there had a great weekend, especially on Saturday night. Here are three videos from Saturday which are being posted here before Facebook and also a few photos which did get to Facebook first as that is where the link is from.

Hi,

Paddy Goodwin celebrated his birthday with a great gig in Odd Mollies in Drogheda on Saturday 22nd April 2017. With James Mackin on drums and Martin Shields on bass he was joined by many guest musicians. These included Jim Lockhart, Barry Devlin, Paul Callaghan, Paul Brady and many other friends of Paddy.

Here as a Fantasia exclusive for tonight (I won't be sharing these on FB until tomorrow night at the earliest) are two videos from the night featuring Locky Jim and Baz.

Yes, it would be nice to have the odd update as to the whereabouts of RoryVanR on his globetrotting travels.

I will be posting a couple of videos in the next couple of weeks of a couple of Horslips (Jim & Barry) playing at Paddy Goodwin's birthday gig in Drogheda a couple of weeks ago. I just haven't had time to do anything with them yet. They played The Power and the Glory and Locomotive Breath.

Here is what I put on FB last night, have to share it with you all as well.

I think St. Patrick's day is an appropriate day to remember the first ever live performance of this Horslips classic.

Horslips played a great set at the launch of Tall Tales, the Horslips Biography by Mark Cunningham at the Button Factory in Temple Bar in Dublin on Tuesday 29th October 2013.
Horslips are Barry Devlin, Jim Lockhart, Johnny Fean, Charles O'Connor and Eamon Carr. Playing drums tonight as usual instead of Eamon was Ray Fean.

This is The Snakes Farewell to the Emerald Isle from the album The Unfortunate Cup Of Tea.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone !!

This sounds like a great reason for a trip to Belfast next year so count me in.

My Dusk t-shirt and programme finally arrived yesterday.
I was pleasantly surprised to find the programme signed by Eamon Carr and some of the cast.

Happy New Year for 2017 indeed to all on here and welcome back Gussy.

I was also one of those who benefitted from your kind generosity last time around.

I finished 2016 with gigs from Scullion on 17th Dec and from Tir na nOg on 28th Dec.

I am starting 2017 as I always do with the vibe for philo which is being held over three nights in the Workmans Club in Dublin this week. Two nights down and one more to go tonight.

It was like a Horslips gig with Pat Maguire on stage and Gerry Byrne on sound last night.

Regards,

John

Merry Christmas to all of you. Here is an appropriate Horslips memory for the day that is in it.

This starts on TG4 tonight at 21:30. I have seen a couple of trailers for this and it could be good. Will watch it myself tonight.

Not really a local gig though the M50 does mean it was only about 45 minutes away for me. I did have to pass the point on the N7 where I got penalty points for doing 114 km/h in a 100 km/h zone at about 2.00 AM on the way back from the Horslips gig in Limerick a couple of years ago.

Jim Lockhart and Paddy Goodwin put together a great line up for a charity gig in the Osprey Hotel in Naas in aid of Homeless Care CLG on Saturday 22nd October 2016.

Playing with Paddy & Jim were Mundy, Paddy Casey, Johnny Fean, Barry Devlin, Ted Mc Carthy and James Mackin.

Here are a few photos from the night.

I also took two videos.

I went to see Dusk in The New Theatre last night. I can highly recommend it. The quality of the acting is superb and the venue (one I had not heard of before) was excellent. If anyone can get to this week you should do so, it is well worth seeing.

I had a good chat with Eamon afterwards and the feedback has been so positive that it wouldn't surprise me if there is a demand to put it on again sometime. The director said to me afterwards he would love to bring it to some of the venues around the country like An Ghrianan in Letterkenny. That would be good.
