Indeed a mighty task to accomplish-Barry can make a documentary of the person who listens to every disc, reads every note and frames the poster(s). The only problem might be having all involved still breathing. There is a similar Al Stewart set coming at a comparable price. Comparing the two, Horslips never suffered from "wanting to be the next big thing in men wanting to show their sensitive philosophical side syndrome" so outtakes from the lads would be (betting here) much more listenable than out-takes from say Zero She Flies or Bedsitter Images where the finished tracks are still a struggle to comprehend. I love Al Stewart but that is, as is commonly stated "too much information".

John, was that Mr. Ferris, of S Ferris fame in attendance or his doppleganger?

Thank you John for the photo's. It was great seeing recent pictures of the lads. What an exciting day for fans! I imagine the run will exhaust itself quickly and they will become collector's item to be sure. Thanks again.

I have never met a bowl of soup that misbehaves. Beets me though. Good question.

I believe I owe you a pint or two still from that pub on Harolds Cross Road. Just watched Don't Look Up - I hope the pandemic will not end that way, too much yet to do!

Winter came roaring in yesterday and last night. Went out for a solo last hike before Christmas and I beat the storm and cold by an hour. When I began the hike it was -2 and calm and when I finished two hours later it was -11 and brisk north winds. At the moment it is -23 with the high being -26 Christmas Day and the low expected to hit -34. Once that wind picked up and I could feel the temperature drop I headed back and glad I did. Shortly you could barely make out the road with the blowing snow. With the snow saw some new visitor prints to the backyard-a coyote, lynx, bobcat, plenty of hares or at least there was at that time, and lots of deer and a covey of ptarmagin strolling about. A real Canadian scene to be sure, at least if you don't live in Vancouver where it rains all winter.

Wishing everyone here a very Happy Christmas and Joyous New Year. I hope JesusMuhammedShivaBhuddaYahweh get this under control-just thought how much that gathering of beings looks like a Welsh persons name!

Peace

Can someone roll this out early this year. We need some cheering up and the board could use a little life. It may be early but if the pandemic has taught us anything it is to not put things off. Do it when you can.

Tough timing for me. My eldest daughter is getting married a month before (have you received your invitation yet? No? I will be sure to have one sent out as it seems she is inviting anyone with a heartbeat) and as expenses pile up I may have to begin burning my old Celtic Literature text books from uni to keep warm over the winter. One of the deer that frequents my backyard may be "missing" to keep food on the table. I have called it the "Autumn of my daughters contentment".
I would love to get over and if I do I will have to see if I may impose myself on Stefan and his clan. My birthday is six days later so maybe I can use that angle of an early birthday present.
Thanks for your efforts on this and past endeavours, even though I have not and may not be able to attend. I know many look forward to these. Hopefully by then the twelfth wave will be over.

Appreciate your willingness to step into the ring again for the next Con2022. Maybe call it Catch22!

Good to hear the missus is recovering and continuing good vibes sent her way to that end. I am sure a few key players will make an appearance to navigate the ship through what will be a challenging undertaking.

Good on you Taff for taking this on in these challenging and uncertain times.

Will try to make it over depending upon the scheduling of the event. If it is in the late fall or late winter it likely would be a trip I would have to do on my own as my travelling companion is not into damp and cold together. If it's in the summer then we both could do it and make an adventure of it, first stopping in Newfoundland to do our oft-delayed hiking trip to Gros Morne then making it only a 3 hour trip to Ireland from there.

Nice to see some postings here again.

Cheers to all.

Don

I think it is relatively safe to gather here to share stories and remembrances without fear of contracting Covid or its variants. On a happier note Canada tied Mexico 1-1 despite outplaying Mexico, in a world cup qualifier. Only ten teams in 87 years have taken a point playing Mexico at Azeteca Stadium. we are ranked 51 and Mexico 9th. They were lucky to escape with a tie against Canada who remains undefeated thus far in the qualifying round after six games.

All good things must come to an end and our (as Van might say) "days of eternal youth spent in green fields and forests, our spines cushioned by wonder for we are not to die, have been eclipsed by nightfall where darkness fills the sky, and hope always springs eternal...". My one and only show was in 1973 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. I did get to meet the lads, had them all autograph my HTMSTP album, shared many beer after the show. Robbie was patient and informative while I peppered him with questions about the gear. I was very fortunate to have been able to meet with some of them in Dublin on my last trip and it is a memory I never will forget-their hospitality and generosity for a stranger and his wife, made a lasting impression. One day I still hope to get back and renew the ties. If the pandemic ever subsides maybe they may find themselves out in western Canada and I can be their host.

Be safe and well everyone and hopefully one day, events may still bring us together again, thanks to Taffs' hard work and dedication.

Peace.

A very sad day indeed and as Joan Armatrading said, "whoever thought any of them would leave this earth". I loved his playing and watching him play unmatched grips made me want to do the same, it just looked so cool and little did I know that was the style of jazz drummers and few rock drummers at the time played unmatched grips-jazz was not even on the horizon for me. He was stylish, cool, calm, and mostly collected and he did have his demons but he overcame them to remain on top of his game. Rest In Peace Mr. Watts.

Another choice listing for me would be:

Magna Carta-Seasons
Genesis-Genesis To Revelation
Strawbs-From The Witchwood
Fairport Convention-A Moveable Feast
Steeleye Span-Live At Last
Mike Oldfield-Ommadawn
John Mayer-Room For Squares
Stan Getz/Louis Bonfa-Jazz Samba
Chet Baker/Stan Getz-Live in Stockholm
Yes-Yessongs
Yes-Tales From Topographic Oceans Side 4 -
Guess Who-Live At The Paramount

Thanks for reminding me of Moonlight Shadow, now I have to buy it, a guilty pleasure along with Bob Segers' Hollywood Nights and The Fire Inside

Interesting stuff..I was never a country fan, in fact I hated the stuff and the blame rests squarely on my fathers purchase of the Readers Digest Top 100 Country Songs collection. Back then a lot of country music was filled with teen type tragic songs-you know the kind where the cowboy writes to his mother telling her how much he misses her and right after this cattle drive is over he'll come home and live on the farm with her-but of course lightening spooks the cattle and he is stampeded by cows.

I do have a fondness for countryish albums like:

Linda Ronstadt-Heart Like A Wheel
John Hiatt-Bring The Family
Johnny Cash-Live At Folsom Prison
Poco early on
Flying Burrito Brothers
Steve Earle Exit 0
