Well said Gerard.

I think the message we all want to give is one thanks for all the great musical memories and all the friends we have made over the years of supporting Horslips.

I have been lucky enough to meet Barry and Maggie Fean since the news broke and have been able to pass on my message of thanks to them. I hope to catch up with Jim at some stage to say the same to him.

Yes Digger,

I am also glad that you got to those Olympia concerts and that we actually got to meet in the queue outside the first one.

It has always been worth the effort to travel to see a Horslips gig.

Taff55,

I was only at one of the Drogheda gigs but my last five Horslips gigs in 2019 were :-

13 Aug 2019 - Drogheda
23 Aug 2019 - Seamus Ennis Arts Centre, The Naul
24 Aug 2019 - Seamus Ennis Arts Centre, The Naul
01 Nov 2019 - Pavilion Theatre - Dun Laoghaire
02 Nov 2019 - Pavilion Theatre - Dun Laoghaire

I was in Derry to attend the Derry gigs which got finally cancelled this week on the weekend of 14th/15th March 2020 which was the weekend before St. Patrick's Day and the beginning of the first lockdown.

So I think 2nd Nov 2019 was the last one.

Hi
I got a similar email and the Facebook event for that gig has also been cancelled. I also have Ticketmaster tickets for the two Derry gigs but there has been no cancellation for them yet.
Do any of the admins know any more?

I really hope that time will come soon StefanF, I was in Derry for the cancelled Horslips gigs when we went into lockdown last year and the camera has hardly been used since.

Hopefully over the summer as the numbers vaccinated increase we may get some sort of gigs back again.

Hi,

I listened to it again and noticed that the link is only to the interview itself and doesn't include the tracks from The Shell that were played and from the sounds of the beginning it must have had Dearg Doom as an intro.

Hi,

Back on the afternoon of 29th March Charles was interviewed on a local radio station here in Dublin by Mick Hanly about his new album The Shell. I managed to catch the last 20 minutes of it in the car that afternoon.

It has now been put up on soundcloud so those who missed it can catch up.

Enjoy . . .

Don,

Here is one, a few months ago Mary Coughlan did a gig from the Seamus Ennis Arts Centre in the Naul and I registered to be part of the Zoom audience for the gig. My zoom background is a beach in Donegal. At one point between songs Mary obviously looked at the Zoom screen in front of the stage and said, oh look there is a guy on a beach, and he is drinking wine !!

Hi,

I am also one of those with the Johnny Logan tickets so might see you there whenever it finally happens.

I am WFH in the attic and have been as busy as we we ever were in the office. Really missing live gigs but enjoying a lot of the regular live streams people put on. I have regularly joined Pat McManus, Leo O'Kelly, Mary Coughlan, Blackbird & Crowe, Mongoose and caught snippets of gigs by Brian Kennedy and Jack Lukeman. There was a particularly good Scullion gig streamed a few months ago that I never heard about until afterwards but did get to see it.

I got a bad dose of tonsilitis in the first week of Jan which involved having to have a precautionary COVID test which was negative luckily. Still getting over that bout, I thought I was past it last week but then the throat infection came back over the weekend so on another round of anti-biotics this week.
Delighted that is all it is, I have a couple of friends who caught COVID and needed oxygen support in hospital. It has been a scary few weeks with the level of transmission we have at the moment, finally the numbers are going in the right direction but it has been rampant in recent weeks.
My mother is in a care home and they got their first dose of the vaccine last Wednesday so that is a relief. Due for next dose on 17th Feb.

Hope we all continue to avoid the virus and hang in until the gigs come around again. Just had Genesis postponed again to September but I think that is even too early so suspect Q1 2022 for their tour.

Regards,
John

Hi,

Merry Christmas and best wishes for a much better 2021 that we have had in 2020. Here is my usual Christmas Eve posting of a classic Christmas song from Horslips from the Olympia eight years ago.

Hi Don,

Still here, but checking in less frequently and only posting when I actually have something to say, except for now because I don't really have any Horslips news at the moment, even the first half of 2021 is looking dodgy for gigs so I can see the rescheduled ones I have tickets for in Derry & Dublin moving again.

I have, like everyone else been joining a few live streams as my only access to live music at the moment. Some of them have been very good but it is rare for any of them to go all the way through without at least one incidence of the stream freezing.

I had actually booked tickets for my first real gig in a real venue for next Friday. Rob Strong was to play in the Workmans Club in Dublin, reduced capacity, social distancing, mask wearing etc. But unfortunately the new level three lockdown this week for Dublin means all indoor events are cancelled or postponed so it is not going to happen next Friday. Hopefully we will get back to level 2 in three weeks and gigs can happen again.

Hi,

I had seven different applications for tickets made either by me or by friends and relations on my behalf and none came though. So I had to make do with listening to it live on BBC Radio on my laptop in Donegal that day. It was actually a great experience listening live and interacting in real time with other fans on the Horslips facebook page.

I would still have preferred to be there.

StefanF,

I really hope never to have to put on a virtual gig again, they are a poor substitute for the real thing which I hope we will get back to in 2021.
