Is there no end to Blind Boy Goodwin’s sorcery???
Next Saturday evening at the now famous McHugh’s of Drogheda, Blind Boy Goodwin is presenting a fabulous night of music. Already confirmed for the night is Henry McCullough – Paul McCartney’s Wing(s)man & Woodstock performer. Henry will be performing set including songs from his critically acclaimed 2009 album “Poor Man’s Moon” which he co-wrote with Horslips drummer and lyricist Eamon Carr. Clara Monahan & Liz Monahan wowed McHughs already this year and the audience response then was such that Goodwin simply had to ask them back. Punters will be blown away with their fabulous vocal harmonies and this promises to be one of the many highlights of the evening. Expected to make an appearance also is ace guitarist Mick McCarney, another performer who has previously received a great audience reaction in McHughs. The Holy Ghosts line up for the night continues to be a closely guarded secret. However we can confirm that Goodwin himself will be leading the band, replete with a newly acquired tonsorial elegance and some devastating licks. We believe that the Holy Ghosts will also include multi instrumentalist Chris Somers from Cork – who has previously appeared in McHughs playing lead guitar, electric mandolin and bass. It is rumoured that the previous Holy Ghost member Charles O’ Connor will not appear as he has threatened young Somers with litigation. Apparently the youngfella broke some strings on O’ Connor’s mandolin during a rocking version of "Shakin’ All Over" earlier this month when both he and Goodwin were invited onstage to join HORSLIPS during their 2nd warm up gig prior to their Irish Tour 2009. Behind the scenes moves are ongoing to calm this situation and we await developments... Most importantly of all however, Saturday sees the return to McHughs of the living legend that is Johnny Fean. Fean comes to McHughs fresh from Belfast’s Odyssey and Dublins O2. In Dublin last week over 12,000 lucky punters witnessed the return (after a short break...) of the Greatest Irish Band Of All Time – HORSLIPS. It was the gig of 2009 and Fean was in sensational form providing many of the highlights of two nights of extraordinary musical power.

What a llllaaaaannngggeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Earlier posting inadvertantly left out: Tom Newman who was the leader of 60s cult psychedelic band July. He later went on to produce Tubular Bells and several other albums by Mike Oldfield. Tom will be featured on Saturday's bill. Those who were fortunate enough to previously see Tom perform will confirm that he's well capable of stealing the show. Wha? 50 lashes? Oh yeah, they're going to the North Eastern correspondent.....

An unimpeachable (???) source has confirmed that Brian Downey - drummer with Thin Lizzy - will indeed be joining Johnny Fean, Henry McCullough, Blind Boy Goodwin & The Holy Ghosts for tomorrow night's show in McHugh's of Drogheda.
Whether any of Henry's previous bass players have been added to the squad is not known at this time.....
