Wonderful news! I thought that was a really interesting concert and will be glad to add it to my collection...Sideways To The Sun especially was the best ever version for me.

Listening to the 'preview' on iTunes and it's pheicin mighty. Way better sounding that the original radio broadcast (not that there was anything wrong with it!) maintaining the live feel with orchestra sounding sweet.

That's another Christmas present opened in November !!!

Good spot - I googled it with "Horslips live with ulster orchestra" to see if anyone else has it and very surprised to find my Waterfront video of Dearg Doom was first hit out of 855,000 results ! Mind you 1378 buggers have watched it !

I have pre-ordered mine from RTE Shop for €14.99 plus €2 postage. Not sure if that's good value or not? There are very few record shops left in Kerry so wanted to make sure I got my copy early.

Out of curiosity, why is it costing €17.99 plus €3.95 delivery on Official Horslips Merchandise Store? Seems a bit steep to me. It's the same for all of their CDs. While I would prefer to buy from the official outlet, I'm not going to be ripped off either. Have the lads got any say on the prices? It just doesn't seem right in these recessionary times.

We will probably be banned from this site now for uttering such subversive thoughts but I would tend to agree with Gearoid that the Merchandise Store does tend to be expensive for ordering stuff. However at the end of the day it is a matter of consumer choice where we buy stuff.

I don't know how many here are familiar with the BBC spy drama Spooks, but anyone who is will probably remember episodes where the internet is monitored for phrases that are deemed to be sinister or significant.
They're going to get awful excited when they come across Taff's phrase " subversive thoughts " on a thread titled " Provisional Release date. "

Yes, I'd be especially worried if someone with a broken Russian accent is on the end of the phone when you go to order your copy of the new cd,
or if there's a pizza delivery van parked across the street !

I agree with the comments about the Official Horslips Merchandise Store online. It offers appallingly poor value.
With clear conscience I recommend Horslips music to everyone and the Merchandise Store to no-one! Somewhere along the along chain of descision making the respect for fans has been lost.

I havn't been sure about the protocol about moaning about the prices from the ' Official Shop ', but now , what the hell !

I have posted before about the strange policy of flooding the market too rapidly with the new re-releases and thus loosing sales . The prices in the 'Shop ' are a joke . Like many of the folk on this site I already had 3 vinyl and 2 cd copies of the major titles and 2 or 3 of all the others .

The new copies look great and the extra tracks are very welcome although some strange omissions eg the live albums .However , lets remember that these are re-releases ! I know there has been debate before but are they the same remasters done with Peter Mew at Abbey Road circa 2000 and we bought then ?

The normal on-line sites, HMV , Play.com etc have been very patchy about what should be a major series at an affordable price . So pleased to see HMV carrying the new CD .My copy is on order but I wasn't as brave as Taff to post the link here !

I have never seen a single copy of the new cds in a shop in Edinburgh . About two weeks ago I spoke to a friend who is the manager of the only good record shop (for new releases) left in town , as to why he doesn't stock them as I would buy all that I don't have ,at an acceptable price .He looked up the computer and they came up as incredibly expensive ' Irish Imports' !

Over the past 2 years I have always checked the shops in NI when on holiday . There would appear to be terrible distribution , even in major shops . eg HMV in Belfast .

The best value prices I have seen were at the merchandise stall when the band played in Glasgow in January , but not at the same stall in Belfast in March !?!?

After bewilderment at all of this , and an awareness that the cds are released in conjunction with the UK specialist label ' Talking Elephant ' , I checked out their website......

Please take this as an early Christmas present to you all !! You are welcome to buy me a drink at the next gig I get to!

Hope this hasn't annoyed anyone . Best to all , John R.

Look what you started Gearoid !!!! Good discussion though, maybe the Store will revisit their prices for Christmas and slash them.

BTW Rory it was Neil Hunt put up the HMV link not me...I am already hiding from the spooks and the Store without getting into more bother by advertising rival stores.
(6.99 BTW Iain!!!)
