My guess is Dearg Doom from the Old Grey Whistle Test (at least it was the Old Grey... which alerted my "informant")

Bump.

For those that can't work timers - here's a reminder!

Posting now as I am likely to forget again.

Now that we've settled on a Quiet Night In this year, it only remains for my other half to discover it won't quite as quiet as envisaged.

We have Sky but Dine Site BBC4 has to be tuned in - ergo one cannot record it on the Sky Box. Which is a pain in the 'nads. What I wouldn't give to get rid of dozens of shite channels that you can record and replace them with decent channels!

Insider_at_rte, dont know if your literally an RTE insider, but would you know if RTE might have in their sound archives, a recording of Horslips circa 1974, 1975, ringing in the new year live on RTE radio from Red Island. Anybody out there remember those Red Island new years eves?

Literally stumbled across the end of a Guitar Heroes program last night on BBC4 , Nils Lofgrem , a nice tune called Lucifers Cage from some guy I hadn't heard of called Gilpin or something like that , finished with AC-DC with Bon Scott and Rocker .

I too came in late on this. No sign of Horslips, but it may have been on earlier.
Gordon Giltrap Band - Lucifers Cage
Nils Lofgren - Keith Don't Go
and ending on the high of Rocker by AC/DC - oh yes!

Not a chance! But I'd consider offering you sex for some footage.

Yep, on last night, Guitar Heroes IV.

Dearg Doom.

"Barry Devlin, Eamon Carr and Charles O'Connor first met when they posed together as a mock-up band for a Harp beer commercial...
...they went on to be considered the founding fathers of Celtic Rock fusing traditional jigs and reels with rock and roll
Dearg Doom is from The Tain a concept album based on the Tain Bo Cuailnge legend in early Irish literature
The main guitar riff was used in Put 'Em Under Pressure, the Republic of Ireland football team's Italia '90 anthem"

That is all!

Merry rockin new year!

Happy new year.

I don't know if BBC operate the same "must be in country" rule as RTE, but you can pick up the broadcast at;
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/ ... eroes_at_the_BBC_Part_IV/

Move the timer on to about 11:00 minutes or so.

There are one or two brilliant "Oh shite! I'm on camera - had better play/sing" moments.

Thanks for that, Brendan. I'd hate for you to lose your viginity.

This is a screengrab wmv format - I can probably produce other formats (for Macs etc) on request, and after this evening's Ulster-Munster balick-freezer at Ravenhill.

Give it a few moments to load then try the play button.

Not only that, I would say it's the source!!

The only thing I'd say that's different is the footnotes that Niall typed up earlier...
